The entirety of my sound design was recorded onto custom-built cassette tape loops that played throughout the set itself, visible to the audience, plus a customized piano that could be played in various modified ways. All was controlled live.

I made a glove (pictured below), which was held over the mouth of an actor who would then pull cassette tape—with another's voice recorded onto it—through the fingers of the glove (appearing to pull it from their own mouth). The voice of the other would play in realtime.

And this was the piano.
